The Unique Eco-Friendly Bottle House

The current governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, has a background as an architect. One of his unique architectural works that won an award is the bottle house. This unique bottle house in Bandung, which is environmentally friendly, was awarded the 2009 Green Design Award.

To design the bottle house, 30,000 glass bottles were collected over six months. There is also the time for the construction to finish the bottle house for two years.

It is called environmentally friendly because it uses used bottles that are no longer taken by the company to be refilled.

The use of used bottles also has a philosophy of reducing waste in the city of Bandung.

“I hate that my hometown was once called Bandung the Sea of Garbage. I say this because people are not creative, have no will, so they can't manage waste into something useful. Because I am an architect, I collect things to become my own house,” said Ridwan Kamil on the YouTube channel TEDx Talks which was published November 1, 2010.

Then how does this bottle house anticipate the sun's rays? As reported by Furnizing , to minimize the impact of the heat received, bottles are used and placed on the exterior walls. Not only that, by placing the glass panel at a distance of 60 cm from the wall of the glass bottle, hot air will be trapped in the glass bottle and not enter the room.

Natural light also enters the house so that during the day, the house does not need lighting in it.

"This house is very healthy, the sun when the heat is restrained, the light enters," explained Ridwan Kamil.
